How do you move windows 10 free upgrade to an ssd

zXUnReliableXz

I bought an ssd and I'm not sure how to go about this. I used a third parts software to get my changed product key from when I did the free upgrade from 8.1. Will I need to re enter this supposed key or will windows recognize my hardware and automatically activate. If i do need to re enter the product key, is there a de activation process. Thanks, I'm running a 1tb Hdd not im just trying to move the os.

take your current drive out

plug the new SSD in

use a USB to install windows 10 on the SSD

it will automatically activate, when it asks you for product key just click skip

then install your programs and make sure windows is up to date

shut down and plug in your old drive (make sure you boot only from the SSD)

then in windows you can drag your files and media to the SSD through file explorer

when you have your files on the SSD then format the old drive and move whatever files you want to keep there back onto it
