I heard that Nvidia joined in and made their Gameworks free to use to developers.

Does that mean that AMD has the right to optimize Gameworks for their GPU...? If yes, then it looks like a safe opportunity to jump on Vega next year...

Nope, not an open source.

They claim its freely available to any developer, but that's the keyword. AMD is not a developer.

 

Some portions of it are open source, but are only tech demos of very select bits of software from it.

AMD invests money into making a game developer branch. Makes mediocre game. Gets access to Gameworks. Profit.

So they cant change the code when borrowing it? I mean, change it and add support for AMD?
