My first custom project - Borderlands or smth

biggiepk

Hi fellas.
Wanna try building my first pc custom project case. I wanna do it in black and yellow theme. That would fit perfectly in my room.
I watched some mods, that borderland mode, and maybe i will do smth similiar. Or some hazzard mode.
There is no need for super powerfull pc.

Components that i'm looking to buy:

cpu - i3 - 3 or 4gen
mobo- 4 slots, the board must be black
ram - 8 gb or 16gb / 4x2 or 4x4
storage: ssd 120gb
gpu - // need reference card so i can paint it in black or yellow, or stronger
psu - something in range of 450-500w
case - mini case smth like fractal000 or n200

Now i wanna ask you. Did someone buy this before? I would take 24pi, 8pin and also 2 for pci-e.

Also i wanna ask, can i paint this heatsinks? I need 2 in yellow 2 in black..

And last question is i wanna buy gtx 680 reference, and can i paints that geforce GTX green sign in yellow? TY

Thanks guys. This would be it for the start. This project will begin soon.

Linus covered a rig in glitter so I think your pretty safe to paint.
What do you want to know about the cables?
Seller looks decent so it probably a fine modded product.

you wont be using 16 GB of ram with a i3

as long as the reviews say nothing about cables catching on fire it doesnt really matter for quality,

ram heatsinks can be painted however watch out that you dont put too much paint on them since it will obstruct heat from transferring to the air.

you can paint the sign in green however you would also need to remove the leds since they glow green.

Thanks mate.

First componente is here. Fractal 1000. Great case, i can mod it very easy. Only bad thing it's lack of airflow in this case. It has only 1x80mm and 1x120mm. So i need to add couple of holes for coolers, cause this thing will get hot, especially cause i'm using the referente gpu, and intel stock heatsink. This is my first mod, so bare with me.

Here are the pics of the case. First thing i need to do is to add the one cooler to front side. The 80x80 will fit perfectly. Then i planned to cut off completly the 3.5mm bay, and place there the PSU cover made from pleksi. It will hide all cables, and i planned to mount to bot of psu cover a new cooler. Also i planed to mount on top of the case the one more 120x120mm cooler. So i have the air push out of the case there. Maybe i tought placing one or two coolers on bottom of the case, cause the gpu is referent and will need that extra cooling? What do you think? On the back i wanna cut small area so i can mount cpu coolers without removing the mobo. And on the last pic, you can see i made a small area that i will cut for the window on side panel.

Stay tuned.

All coments are wellcome.

I menage to put 2x 120mm in front, the botom one has the original secure for the cooler, but what should i use to secure this second cooler? Some strong tape behing or? Also the both coolers, seems to work for a sec. They spin super slow, and then they stop. Is it the greece inside? Should i put oil?

if you want to go one step further and custom design your own cables I suggest you to try our configuratior that now also does support custom extensions: https://store.cablemod.com/configurator/

Slightly more expensive but more unique! if you want a ready made kit in Black & Yellow than check this out: https://eustore.cablemod.com/products/?filter_product-category=82&filter_color=50

If you want to paint your GPU then check this out:

I changed the rubber on side panel. I tryed to find in stores the U channel, but it is not avaliable at all.. So i improvised. Also, there is borderlands logo there, it just a sketck but will be done perfectly later one. Also i painted some parts from white to black, and ATM i'm painting these 2 fans. Soon big update.

  • Most of the job on the case is done. The upper part is left only. After i finish that, i will use black paint and do some stripers over all of the case. Something better for borderlands rec. I did not clean the paint that is left on black parts, so, it's fresh picture! Also, the black u channel rubber will go around the window. As soon as i'm able to find it.
