New Haswell Build

aDoBo

Here's what I was thinking: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1HhOz

Replace rear exhaust fan with Sickleflow. Remove h100i stock fans and replace them with sickleflows as well.

Side Megaflow intake.

The 8350 is significantly better for visualization support because it supports assigning vm's to hardware as well as all other features while Intel limits what the 3770k can do.

Haswell runs as hot as Ivy.

is this still a viable option??...still haven't managed to build one...realistically won't get till i get back from holiday mid January...OR is it worth waiting for the new CPU range (whenever that is..)

CPU: i7-960  3.2GHz on H50 | RAM: 12GB Corsair XMS3 1333MHz | MB: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 | GPU: PowerColor RADEON HD 5770 | SSD: Samsung 840 120GBHDD: WD 1.5TB Green Drive | PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 500W Case: Cooler Master Elite 430

It's still viable. Whether you want to wait is up to you. Tech will pretty much always continue to get cheaper and better with time.

  • 1 month later...

One reason i havent moved to AMD is heat issues with the CPU. always been a bit weary as im not too savy on 'cooling'...any issues to be worried about with a CPU with that many cores?....(obviously more fans would keep it cool but noise levels would also be a thing to balance out)
