m.2 compatibility

hi, while checking compatibility of hardware for my build on pcpartpicker.com i got the following issue: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QcqRcf

• The motherboard M.2 slot #0 shares bandwidth with a SATA Express port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA Express port is disabled.

i think that the compatibility problem was a mistake, since both the motherboard (Maximus VIII Ranger) and the m.2 ssd (samsung 950 PRO) both support PCIe 3.0 x4 so i think the M.2 shouldn't share bandwith with SATA ports.

Hope someone could clarify

It's just a warning letting you know that when you install a M.2 into the slot, you'll lose your SATA Express ports, which by the way you may never use.  No need to worry as the 950 Pro will work fine with that board.

worst case scenario one sata port won't work, do you need all of them?

Seems right to me, says that 1 SATA express port, not SATA port... the newer mobos have SATA ports and SATA express which has a lot more throughput, so probably has to share with the M.2 slot... the regular SATA ports will work fine, as will the M.2 port work at full capacity.

The SATA Express port uses two PCIe lanes, so the message is correct. Those lanes are shared with the M.2 slot.
