So I have been thinking about building a gaming pc lately, here is it:

i3 6100

Gigabyte H110M DDR4 / ASRock Z170 DDR4 ( Z170 in case i want to upgrade in a later stage, i still have to choose)

HyperX 1x8Gb DDR4 2400Mhz

Sapphire R9 380 4GB

SeaSonic S12 II 520W

Fractal Design Core 2300

ADATA sp550 240gb + Old WD 250gb HD

So here is the problem, I have this old "Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD" Laying around

(Stats: 20 inch, 92ppi, 5ms, 50Hz, Max res 900p)

But i don't know if its good for gaming and i am on a budget and i really don't know if i should spent 130 Euro's more on the Asus VS247HR

So should i use my old monitor or buy a new one?

Oh btw i plan on playing Black ops 3, CS:GO, Mc, First person shooters in general, tripple A games.

Sorry for my bad english and thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum!

It's up to you to decide whether it's 'good enough for gaming', we can't decide for you.

Personally, I wouldn't find it to be good enough, but I'm a screen addict.

At the end of the day, what it comes down to is what you would prefer to play on. If the monitor is bearable and you can game on it, then keep using it.

If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

Get a better monitor. For csgo if you plan on getting higher than silver 1 get a better one because of the aspect ratio and resolution.

I used to play Minecraft on a 4:3 monitor and it is playable but not really enjoyable.

Don't even try to play gta on a 4:3

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Thanks!

Yeah I already thought this would be a weird question for others to awnser but maybe gaming on 900p is like really bad or something, i have no idea.

Thanks for the reply

It's what it is! More pixels often looks better, as long as you can drive them.

50hz? Overclock that little guy, you might be able to get it to 75hz.

I personally think it's fine, but upgrade down the track. I used to use a 24" TV that had a resolution of 1360x768. I then managed to get it to work at 1920x1080, but it was at 50hz.. Buy something better later down the road

idk

Managed to get it working at 1920x1080? I'm guessing you were having the scaler downscale that for you?

No, I was trying to use HDMI and for some reason the TV was overscaling the picture. I used VGA via a DVI-D-VGA adapter and it worked but the picture was poor.. it's a cheap TV.
