Hello,

I made a post a few days ago about buying a gtx 950 which is powered by a single 8 pin and that my current psu is old and doesn't have an 8 pin. My initial question was if it was possible for me to find another solution via 6 to 8 pin adapter, but people were against that idea such idea because it wasn't reliable and could cause harm to some components. I decided I have to get a new PSU, so my question now is which psu should I get, the most budget oriented one which would provide safety. I can't spend more than 50-55e on it so the ones that I can get here where I live for the price are:

- CHIEFTEC GPS-500A8 500W - 45e

- ZALMAN ZM500-GS II 500W - 48e

- ZALMAN ZM500-LX 500W - 49e

- ZALMAN ZM500-TX 500W - 50e

- Cooler Master B500 v2 500W - 51e

- XFX TS Series 430W - 53e (I'm not sure if this is enough)

- THERMALTAKE Smart SE 530W - 55e

- EVGA 500B 500W - 56e

The system I'm running is:

AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz

2x4gb RAM

GTX 950 Xtreme Gaming

Asus M4A79XTD EVO

1tb WD Blue HDD

and peripherals

I should also note that I plan to upgrade to I3 6100 or I5 6500 when I can so I need the PSU to be able to power that system aswell.

Out of the PSU's that you've listed I'd go with EVGA, They're a reputable brand. Corsair is also good but I guess a little above your price point.

I am a bit skeptical about the EVGA one because I know that EVGA isn't the manufacturer and I've read quite a few bad reviews on it. In the PSU ranking and tiers thread I saw that it's in the tier 6 whilst XFX one is in tier 3 and it's made by Seasonic if I'm not mistaken. I would've gone for Seasonic  S12II 520w but it's a bit too expensive for me priced at 65e here + shipping that's going to be around 75ish e which I can't afford now. I'm honestly more inclined towards XFX one, I just wasn't sure if the 430w version was a good idea.

If EVGA outsourced the manufacturing of the PSU then don't go with it. A good rule of thumb is even if you're on a budget one thing to never skimp on is the PSU. You said your budget is 50-55e that's Euro correct? This fits in your price range and is a reputable brand, reviews are also very good.

Of those grab the XFX.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
