so when i was working out and listening to music through my computer speakers, i heard my pc make the sound when you disconnect a device and then reconnect it, i thought it was weird so i just looked at my pc screen to see if anything would pop up, but noting did, then my hard drive sounded like it rev up to a high RPM for a few seconds then stopped then did it again. i decided to look at task manager and for a good 30 sec antimalware service executable was using 60% of my CPU. so i ran a virus scan and it came up clean, but idk because that just seemed really strange to me, i never had the happen before.

I'm sure it was just your antivirus trying to do a scan and while doing that the hard drive went from 5200 rpm to 7200 rpm so it would be faster.

Hope this helps :P

What? Usually a HDD would either run at one particular speed, or wouldn't be running.

Are you sure it's not fans rather than your HDD running faster than is meant to be possible?

Sig under construction.

i know it had to be my HDD as i have my HDD isolated in the front of my case and there where the sound came from. my disc usage was at 100% too when i looked at task manager

I'm still pretty confident that your HDD was either not spinning at all, span, then quickly spun down, or you were hearing something else.
