The AMD FX series of CPUs are dead. The best you can get is a 9590 and those don't really compare well to intel CPUs of the same price for gaming. Also, the motherboard comes with a built in wired LAN port, so you dont need the wired adapter.

Lemme do a build and link it for ya. :)

Swap out the FX for a Haswell or Skylake i5 (whichever is cheaper) and swap the 960 for a 380, avoid ASUS and Gigabyte for AMD cards.

Welcome to the forums! :D

Please tell us:

Your budget,

Number of monitors and resolution,

Your location,

What kind of games you would play or play.

These are important information for determining the appropriate parts for your build. ^_^

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

decided tp dabble with this one a bit:

- skylake i5 @ 3.2GHz combines great single core performance with great multithreaded performance

- stuck with a before mentioned mobo

- stuck with before mentioned ram

- went for a 240GB SSD, the 15 bucks extra are #worth it.

- stuck with the WD blue

- R9 380, if you have some headroom in the budget try and get the 4GB model instead.

- stuck with before mentioned case

- got you an XFX power supply, which is FAR greater quality than evga's B series.

- the wifi adapter... i kept it in there.. but *PLEASE* try and put a cable in place if you can, its so much better...

EDIT: should add, for the price of that wifi adapter you can get a gigabit ethernet switch, and something like 20 meters of cable.

Heads up, XFX´s XT series are their Achilles heel. They´re as bad as the CXs.

Designed by SeaSonic but outsourced to some Chinese company. Low rated capacitors and the build quality isn't quite great. Comparable quality to the Corsair CX and the EVGA *00B series.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will go with the i5 and the r9 with 4 gb of vram.

To answer some questions:

the PC will be in my living room

I have a 55 in 1080P 60hz tv

The games I would play are GTA,FIFA, Battlefield etc...

My budget is flexible but I don't want to spend a lot of extra money if it's not necessary.

Also any suggestions on the case the would look ok in a living room?

for GTA, off the top of my head, a quad core and the 4GB R9 380 will be very nice to have, if you can, an R9 390 (4 or 8GB) would be a nice to have offcourse.

as for case suggestions.. i really like define R5 / define S, but they're offcourse a bit on the pricy side.

EDIT: how difficult would running an ethernet cable between your router and the pc location be? it'd be cheaper no matter the length of the cable, and vastly more reliable in most cases.

Looks like you want to play the latest modern games, right?

If you want to get the most of your money, this build (or this combination of CPU and GPU) hits the sweet spot for a high-end build.

Also what do you think of the case?

They're both better and worse than the CX series.

The XTs are identical to the 'Hydrance by Seasonic' power supplies, which are basically made of Fevicol and have sketchy, unbranded capacitors that don't even cite thermal tolerance ratings.

The CX series, on the other hand, is only rated for full power at 30 degrees celsius.

the motherboard is a micro atx is that ok? or does it even matter?
