I have never done a watercooling lop before and I would like to try. I am not new to computers or watercooling them I have just never done a dedicated loop for a computer.I have been wanting to do watercooling for a while now and I just found a kit after looking mildly for about 2 months now. I wanted to see something fairly inexpensive yet very well thought out. I saw very many kits but they were all overpriced and just not right for until I came across the phobya pure performance 360mm kit. At first I am only going to cool my cpu and see how I like the kit and how well it performs. Then I will buy some more tubings and fittings that match the system and add another 140mm rad to the back of my system and buy a decent gpu block and at it to the system. So far I like how it sounds and I would like to know how it sounds to you guys. Any other ideas, suggestions, or things you would change? thanks in advance.

generally speaking, for each components you're trying to cool, 120mm surface area with 30mm depth is enough

but it also depends on the FPI and flow rate and what not, but thats just a very basic guideline on picking a radiator

its also good to leave more headroom anyway, lower temps or lower rpm fans

uh well since I was going add another my graphics card to the loop I thought I would need the extra rad besides I was going to buy another gtx 980 ti after about 2 months or so

$250 holy shit. I can get a good air cooling for like $90 that can do overclock really well.

If you want to get more technical with how much rad space you'll need do the following:

Add up the TDP of all components in the loop

Divide that number by .00023

Take the resulting number and divide it by 120*30

That will give you the total mm of rad needed. So for example for the end result if you got 240 you would need a single 240mm*30mm rad or two 120*30mm rads.

 

The 120*30 comes from a 120mm rad that is 30mm thick, if you go with a larger or thicker rad adjust the number accordingly.

I think people wanting to water cool kind of already understand its not the most cost effective method... at least they should.

well I got 600 because my system tdp is around 500 give or take a dozen or so

Sounds about right, if I read it right sounds like you plan on eventually having two 980TI in the loop plus the CPU so having something like a 240mm and a 360mm rad in total would provide more than enough cooling. You can trim it down to maybe two 240mm rads but I personally wouldn't go with less than that.
