I've used the original H100i before, never noticed any sound when it was in an R4

Couldn't find any GQ, only G2 if that's what you meant

I've used Samsung before, but it's a $50 price difference for 20GB~

I'm going for the R5 because i really like silence :P

Well on paper x61 is the worlds silence cooler in that class atm, but if you dont notice difference then its fine. X61 should cool better but if you dont want to pay extra cash, just dont.

At first i was going for P2 aswell, but in Germany there is 40Euro difference between P2 and GQ. Look at G2 if there is no GQ it should be cheaper and if its something like 20/30$ then buy G2, there isn't really a lot difference beetween P2 and G2.

Well 50$ is alot, stick to your one you pick then.

H440 is silent too lol, but its really up to you. I personally got H440 red and i am really happy with it. I guess it has better airflow at all over the R5, but again if there is a lot price difference simply stick to R5.

There is 177$ price difference beetween 980 and 980TI and you can find even cheaper 980Ti, i would personally save up for 980Ti for long run. If time not issue as i said up wait for GTX1070/80 and 980/980ti price suppose to drop.

Best of luck and happy building.

OK, so i'm going to be upgrading my 4 year old PC soon (3570K and 280X) to a whole new system and i'm wondering what the best combo is to go with. I'm looking for the best performance i can get for under 2500CAD with taxes (13%)

if you feel you can make a better performing build please feel free to link it to me, thanks.

Edit: This build won't be for just gaming, it's also for streaming and a lot of multitasking.

If you are editing and less gaming go for 5820k.

If you are gaming and less editing go for 4790k, it is still good on editing tho. You will just wait for example lets say 30more mins over 5820k.

Here are few things i would change on the builds:

CPU Cooler: Instead of  H100i go for x61 Kraken it is much more silent.

PSU: Instead of Platinum for for GQ editions of Supernova.

SSD: I will personally get Samsung 850Evo 500GB

Case: Well i personally prefer H440, but its up to you there.

Mobo: For the 4790k build the mobo you pick up is good, but look aswell at this one MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Project Redline:

♦CPU: i7-5820k  ♦CPU Cooler: Kraken x61 ♦Mobo: MSI X99A SLI ♦RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4x4GB 3200mhz ♦GPU: Evga 980Ti Hybrid ♦Case: NZXT H440 ♦SSD: Samsung 850EVO 500GB ♦HDD: WD BLUE 1TB 7200rpm ♦Display: 1280 x 1024

second one is better, your not going to need all that CPU power for gaming and a 980TI is a big upgrade

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I do a lot of multitasking while gaming, and want to get back into streaming, and the only way to get the better CPU is to comp on the GPU

ok then the first one is probably better, if you are going to be streaming then the beefier processor will help and a 980 is still a solid card

I edited a bit my answer up. 4790k is good for multitasking and streaming, but obviously 5820k will do a lot better since 2 more cores.

Well if you plan gaming on 1080p, 980 is good option, but keep in mind that 980Ti is all the way to go for 1440p and it is close to be new standart. Look at what i changed on your build.

If time is not issue you can wait for GTX1070/80 series, when they come up 980 and 980Ti price will decrease i guess.
