Bookshelf Speakers on a PC?

So we got new speakers for my living room and now I was wondering if it would be possible to use the bookshelf speakers that have positive and negative inputs and connect them to my PC somehow. If you have any questions for me just toss them out there!

The Positive and Negatives are on the speakers not my PC. Apologies for grammar derp on my part.

i do not have any sort of reciever..

You'll need a receiver of some sort. I don't know anything off of the top of my head that will let you plug in bookshelf's to computers.

 

Now that I'm thinking about it, they probably need a receiver to work anyway assuming they don't have a built in amplifier (most bookshelf speakers don't)

 

Pick up something cheap/used.

Any hi-fi combination will let you have some method of connecting a computer to it's Aux channel. This could be a optical in, a 3.5 jack in or bog standard old red and white AV's. Whichever one it is will tell you which cable you need.


I used to do this back in the old Playstation 2 days with 80w speakers. Sounded awesome, especially Ghosthunter.

A Lepai amp is what t0wer and I recommend for passive stereo - $20 and you're set.

A receiver is normally video and audio inputs with surround ans sub speaker outputs. He just needs audio in and stereo out.

Right now im using some really cheap ass logitech speakers that go off the 3.5mm from the motherboard

Lepai aren't the only people that make amps.

Yeah that'd be nice, but the little Lepai has a huge price/performance ratio.
