Adata SP550 vs Samsung evo 850

Hi, I would like to know if there is a real performance difference between Adata SP550 and Samsung EVO 850 SSD. Taking into account that Adata is quite cheaper if there is almost no diference it is a good option to keep budget down.

The ADATA one you listed uses TLC memory, which stores more data for a lower price. Unfortunately, it degrades faster.

 

I'd go with the Samsung one for reliability.

speed difference between SSDs doesnt really matter

they are all very fast

 

what you should be more worried about is longevity and degradation

 

some SSDs die early

some SSDs drop to HDD speeds after being used for a while

 

the 850 evo does neither of those things, which is why it is considered good

both use tlc. the 850 evo just has a longer warranty and doesnt drop speeds when transfering large files.

Samsung always says it uses "V-NAND" which is Samsung only tech afaik

i always thought vnand was just tlc, but stacked vertically, unless im wrong

The Samsung 850 Evo uses 3D TLC NAND. V-NAND is their brand name for 3D NAND.

 

The Adata SP550 uses 2D TLC NAND. Write endurance and performance are lower as a result, but the SP550 is still nice value.
