Hello everyone,

I’m planning to make my first PC for some time now and I think I have made a good list. I life in The Netherlands and my budget is around €1300,- for the pc. I am planning to put one 1440 monitor on it and buy a 2nd later on.

This is my list:

  • ·         Intel Core i5-6600K Boxed (Processor)

  • ·         MSI Z170A GAMING PRO (Motherboard)

  • ·         Asus STRIX-R9390X-DC3OC-8GD5-GAMING (Video Card)

  • ·         Seagate Desktop HDD ST2000DM001, 2TB (HHD)

  • ·         be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced C1 (Processor Cooler)

  • ·         Phanteks Eclipse P400S (PC Case)

  • ·         Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M4A2133C13  ( RAM a kid of 4*4GB)

  • ·         Crucial BX100 250GB (SSD)

  • ·         Cooler Master GM G650M (Power)

There is one thing I worry about, the be quiet processor cooler is pretty big and I’m affright it is too big for the RAM and the PC case. I could pick a smaller processor cooler (like the be quiet! Dark Rock 3) or maybe buy a kid of 2 * 8 GB RAM and a bigger case.

I hope someone can help me with this!

should be fine with the RAM, but it wont fit in the case

Case CPU Cooler max height: 160mm

Dark rock advanced height = 166mm

2x8gb kit is better, but 4x4 is fine too

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

According to PCPartPicker, the beQuiet! Dark Rock Advanced C1 is incompatible with the Phanteks P400S. Not sure if it's absolutely true but it's most likely it won't fit. So I'd look to getting a bigger case.

Get a better PSU. While the PSU isn't crap, there should be better quality offers from SeaSonic or XFX that should be around the same price. Or if you're looking for great quality, something from the EVGA G2/P2 lineups.

Avoid the STRIX model of the R9 390X. The cooling is just not good at all... Try to get the Sapphire variant (the MSI, XFX, Powercolor variants are all good alternate choices).

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

If Pascal is coming out in 2 months is it still okay to get everything except the graphics card. Maybe not? Because there is no way to tell if the Skylake CPU's will support it or the motherboards.

I really don't think you have to worry about that.

Hello @dennis w2, and welcome to the forum!

It would be helpful to know where do you live, so we can use the right country and right merchant for your part list.

The current list looks OK, but it can be improved and made more streamlined to be more cost effective.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Nope. It doesn't "last longer".

Why would Nvidia release a graphics card that is not compatible with current hardware ? o.O
