I'm planning to buy GTx 970 but I want to know should I wait a little longer for new gpu pascal from nvidia? or polaris from amd? and both polaris and pascal are the kind of gpu for middle class or only for high-end stuff like the 980 or something...really need some advice.

Eh, wait for Polaris and Pascal.

In the beginning only the expensive stuff drops, so the 1080 (Ti) and probably the 1070. Prices may be kind of on the high side.. And the prices of the 970 probably won't drop thát much.

As for the AMD side of things, AMD usually doesn't improve a lot over next generations. the R9 3xx lineup isn't that much of a difference comparing to the R9 2xx series.

What are you currently using? That might be a factor.
Though, we are only [hopefully] two months from some card releases.
If you can hold out for two months, I would.
EVGA has a 90 day upgrade program you might could look into.
I haven't used it so no commentary on it.

this question comes up like 10 times a day. it al depends. are you happy to spend that money on a card that is heavily discounted in about 2 months or can you wait. make the call.

if you say so then I could wait for a bit longer...cuz I want to buy the new gen of gpu as well but that's the price i'm worried about...If the price of those two gpu  are only for high-end then I will just stick with 970..:D

And the 900 series did only because of planned obsolescence. We´re dropping from 28nm to 14nm. There´s going to be an jump whether they pkan for it or not. Besides, 200 series to 300 series was essentially a Haswell to Haswell Refresh thing.

In the beginning they will probably only release the high end cards. after that the rebranded 980 as a 1070 or something and then the titan shizzle. so yeah. they won't be cheap. but the 970 will be cheaper.

I know and that fact that 390 perform in dx12 better than the 970 but I'm limited by my psu with only 500w plus bronze..so I can only have 970...:D...

Ti's don't come in the initial release, they are like refreshes of the originals.

MSRP doesn't always drop for all cards when the new gen releases.  They take the old ones out of production quickly(I think they've already stopped production on 970/80).  I wouldn't expect retailers to reduce the price of the 970 substantially unless they have a large surplus that's not being sold.

Get what is going to make you happy, so many people are waiting for pascal. When it does com out its going to cost a lot anyway, people are going to wait months and months until it becomes affordable. By that time everyone will be waiting for the ti or custom edition.

It's an Andyson unit = as good as Super Flower/Seasonic most of the time.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Has the price of the 970 dropped in your country since it launched? If it hasnt, just wait. That tells me that the Pascal and Polaris cards wont be much more expensive than the 970 and 390 for you. The fact that the new cards will be even more efficient than the current ones is good news for you if you decide to go AMD or Nvidia.
