Grid 2 / Racing games

Is grid 2 any good, and is it worth the 49.99$ on steam? (if its cheaper somewhere else hook me up)

Also is there any other GOOD racing games you can recommend? I already have dirt 3, my cousin is moving in for a bit I believe, and wanted to get some racing games so we can play on my PC a bit.

Any other good recommendations are great too for any genre, lemme know. Thanks!

A number of my friends say that Grid 1 is better than Grid 2 and since i haven't played Grid 1 i can't confirm this statement but since the majority says it then i'll assume its correct. But I have played Grid 2 and its a fine racing game for me, im not overly fussy about that it does and doesn't offer or what not, though don't expect it to be 100% realistic like Gran Tourismo, though i find the rewind feature in Grid 2 quite nice.

GRID2 finds online games via the Steam Download Location setting within Steam.

Stupid.. but hey...

I am an Aussie, have to set Steam to download from UK-London, as that is the place with the biggest GRID 2 playerbase on average. Compared to going through ALL the USA individuals

The online list usually has 3-6 races going at any time using London.

Based on that, its annoying but people who didnt know, find it a useless game if they cannot race online when Grid 2 is set to use their specific setting ONLY,..................... not the world.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

If you like more arcade style racing, Grid2 is ok. Compared to Dirt3 cars haven't got same feel of reality. NFS series has good games too and imo they are bit less arcade than Grid2.

grid 1 is better  but grid 2 is still fun.  if you can get grid one think its cheap now.

Grid 1 is indeed cheap nowadays and I recommend picking it up. Formula 1 games are also good if you're into more track oriented stuff (the later few games just feature more team features and race / season stuff), though NFS Shift is also a good option if you don't mind the excessive tire squeal. Dirt 3 is good if you're into stage rally stuff (I would recommend avoiding Showdown, however). If you want open world, NFS World is a good place to start, though games after the first Shift game are hit and miss. If you want just an arcade-y feeling game series, Burnout is the place to be.

I'm the kind of person who isn't focused on a single discipline and have enjoyed all the above games, though whether you may as well is a different story.

GRID 2 is fun, but unfortunately with racing games on the PC is that the playerbase for the multiplayer dies down pretty fast for whatever reason, so finding a room to join may be hit or miss depending on the time of day or so.
