Is this fan controller up to snuff?

Nacho Marco Segui

check the fan wattage and check and wattage each header can output and if the fan wattage is lower, then it'll be fine

also, have you considered leaf blowers? i think the price to performance ratio is better :3

The fan controller needs to support 40W and 5 amps to run these fans

Ok, that was a nice one. I will be modding them by adding a 4th wire so I can control them through PWM.

Since it is powered via molex, it should be good?

then why not just connecting the fans to molex and use the 4th wire for pwm control

why spend extra on a fan controller `-`

I already had the controller, it is easier for me to control the fans with it `-`

Or maybe power them via molex and connect the 4th wire to the controller? That may work

well then just make sure they will be supplying enough wattage and you'll be fine

I'm as curious as the person above. Any particular reason for why you went with this version of the Gentle Thyphoon? Apart from it being 5,400 RPM?

Pretty good deal. I just hope that you won't mind the extra noise that comes with these fans. They are fairly loud, even running at 7V.

I hope the Pwm mod solves that, people who have done this mod can run their fans at 900 Rpm, should be quieter

well yea, but how bout compared to other fans like the nf-f12 (fairly noisy motor vibrations at rpm higher than 900)

also, does running at 5400rpm ruin the fan's hub making it wobbly? im guessing not since they're rated for it anyway `-`

Are you sure we are talking about the same Gentle Typhoon here? This is the 5,400 RPM version.

And I can't for the life of me find an operating RPM range for these fans. The back of the package says operating voltage of 10.2~13.8 though. And a video I found has them operating at 6V (far from silent-ish, though).

These guys tested a bunch of fans, this fan being one of them. Starting operating voltage is 6V, and there it seems to operate at 1,750 RPM-ish.
