Is This Build ok?

Meh, you can get 5820k on this budget.

Maybe.

@French Bread- consider moving over to an X99 board and a hex-core 5820k, and leaving the CUDA acceleration to something lighter like a GTX 750 TI. It'll still handle games at 1080p and should perform almost as well as a GTX 960 when it comes to rendering, and most importantly, it'll allow you to spend more towards a more powerful CPU- which makes sense, as your CPU horsepower is the first thing video-editing chews on.

What are you going to be using this build for? If it's to be a gaming rig, you have too much CPU power, and not enough GPU horses.

Furthermore, why buy two separate 8GB sticks of RAM? If you really need 16GB of RAM (which you probably won't for gaming), buy a 16GB kit instead.

Everything else looks good, though, although I'd recommend doubling back to Core i5 6600k and an R9 390.

Cooler Master NR200P v2 | ID Cooling Zoomflow 280 XT | SeaSonic Focus SGX-750 | Thermalright 2x140mm + 2x120mm aRGB

welcome to the forum :P

what is this build for tbh? purely gaming?

comments:

Spoiler

1) get a beefier cooler for that cpu so you can push it further

2) get dual channel ram kit instead of two individual sticks for better compatibility

3) i'd drop the 6700k to a 6600k and up the gpu from a 960 to a r9 390, 970 is fine but performs slower than the 390

4) not a great psu, get a better one like the EVGA G2 550W

5) get windows cheaper from places like subreddit micrsoftsoftwareswap

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

That´s really not a balanced build...

It depends. If he's going to be using it for compute-intensive Adobe applications like Premiere, this is quite balanced. However, as a gaming rig? Not so much.

Eh, I default to gaming rig as the purpose if they don´t make it clear, so fair enough I guess.

I am building this pc for (heavy) video editing, browsing the web, and very very light gaming (Minecraft).

in that case, i would change point 3 to

@BingoFishy, I, and a few others had a bit of a contest for part-list optimization, and if you look at the $1400 build, you can certainly do a bit better.

No, this isn't a shameless victory plug (although I am quite proud of it).

@Starelementpoke- there you go.

This build is perfectly adequate for heavy video-editing, especially if you're using Adobe Premiere or the likes, as they take advantage of CUDA Cores. However, keep in mind that Sony software like Vegas Pro fares better with AMD hardware and Stream Processors.

Meh, you can get 5820k on this budget.

Go for a slightly bigger PSU.  The 550W G2 is good enough for your build, but... a 650W-750W will be better if the day should arrive where you find a need for a bigger GPU.

Also, faster RAM is cheap.  Grab a 3000MHz kit.
