Help With Lightspeed Systems!

I have a chromebook the school provides, but they put lightspeed systems on it and you can't access ANYTHING. Even some dictionaries, they say you can't access because they are "directories". Also youtube and linustechtips is blocked. Can you  think of anyway around that? Thanks!

First get a USB

Then download http://ultrasurf.us/ on the USB from another computer

Then insert usb and launch the program and your good to go (no need for admin rights our laptops dont have them either)

Actually, I can't find any chrome apps to open windows files :( . If you know of some could you tell me about them? Thank you!

Exact same boat I am in. So to solve this. Power Wash the chromebook. Now they probably have this blocked so you need to get crafty. Couple ways to do it physically, find the reset jumper on the motherboard and jump it, take the battery out and plug it in with just the charger and try to do it again, rub a neodymium magnet over the flash memory module, create a restore and corrupt it, create a restore with a custom chromium, or unplug the battery and wait for the capacitors to loose charge and try power washing.

Try this: If you cant get into the modes listed below, you are out of luck. But if it works, you can attempt to install a dual-boot for Ubuntu (Linux) - which would grant you access to ultrasurf.

  • Press and hold the Esc and Refresh keys together, then press the Power button (while still holding the other two keys). This will reboot your Chromebook into Recovery Mode.
  • As soon as you see Recovery Mode pop up—the screen with the yellow exclamation point—press Ctrl+D. This will bring up a prompt asking if you want to turn on Developer Mode.
  • Press Enter to continue, then give it some time. It'll pop up with a new screen for a few moments, then reboot and go through the process of enabling Developer Mode. This may take a little while (about 15 minutes or so), and will wipe your local information.
  • When it's done, it will return to the screen with the red exclamation point. Leave it alone until it reboots into Chrome OS.    

If you cant get into any of that, I am afraid that I cant help you anymore. But if it works, you can just look up how to install Linux on a Chromebook- there are tons of tutorials- and you will be on your way!

The only thing you can do is power wash it. AKA FDR. I know you can do it with out Admin privileges. Its some type of key combo. Not sure what the combo is. However, if you do this, then you will probably be expelled. Essentially the way ChromeOS works, the first account signed in to it will become Admin. So the school probably has a master Google Account all of these have been signed in to. The issue is, when you turn it back in after the power wash, your account would be admin. I would not advise you do anything. The fact is, its not your computer it is the schools. Have you thought about buying your own computer? Chromebooks are really cheap. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
