So i'm planning to heavily mod skyrim at 1440p would i be able to hit 60 FPS?

 

EVGA GTX980

8 GB OF RAM

"heavily modded" varies so much it is difficult to tell, try looking around at youtube videos and see how much fps they get with their builds and mods to get an idea I'd say.

I can at times with my GTX 970 using DSR, however...it really gets hammered (GPU and vRAM) when outside.

I would look at the R9 390X if you want to do that, those 4 extra gigs will come in handy. Or you could just get a i5 and a 980Ti, the i7 doesn't offer much in terms of games.

Not really but again, it depends on what kind of mods they are. 

 

Too many script mods will also put alot of load on your cpu. Worst thing is that Skyrim is not multi threaded. 

 

ENB affects your fps the most. Something like K ENB is pretty intensive.

Look on the back of the box, its enhanced for multi core CPU, and has a Core 2 Quad as the recommended CPU (and after using my E8500 at 4GHz, then my Xeon X5450 at 3GHz, the statement on the box doesn't lie).

Just use 2k textures and there will be no problem.

These are my mods and the load order (both sides in that specific order=100% stable so far, although I have to tweak the grass settings):

30-40 FPS. Should be around the same as MXR. Since he's also using a 980.

Indoors you'll defenitly have 60 fps. Outdoors 30-40.

Not sure? Maybe 60. But most likely in the 50-60 range.

I run on 1080p, heavily modded (intense ENB, scripts, graphical overhauls, extended physics), and I have an i7 6700 and a 980 Ti.

I usually get 60, but outside usually about 50fps.

 

Personally I don't see you getting a smooth game on 1440p with a 980.

 

Unfortunately Skyrim does have its limitations, such as only supporting DX9

980ti is way stronger.. more powerful, i'll try 1080p, maybe i'll be happy with it..

xD i'm into vampires, i wanna start my own vampire race and kill every single vampire that harkon turned or leaded ;)

 

I have an awesome idea for new quest mod for vampire players.. but no one wants to help me make it possible xD

You can still make Skyrim look amazing on 1080p! 
Here is some of my own screenshots with it.

 

If you want a more smooth game, I definitely recommend 1080p for Skyrim, especially if you plan on heavily modding it.

If you wanted it vanilla, or 2k textures, I don't think it would be so bad with the fps hit.
