Video Encoding Rig

Hey,

I am planning to build a rig for hevc encoding and moderate gaming. Not sure whether to buy a skylake 6700K or Xeon E5-2620 V4 or Xeon E5-1650 V3 chip. The app I use currently is Handbrake. Will a CPU with more cores increase the encoding speed with Handbrake.

Why do you want to encode to HEVC?

Id just get the 5820k. Unless you get very high end xeon the extra cores won't help due to the low clock speed. If you want better performance for the budget loot at getting dual used lga 2011 chips like the e5 2680 off ebay.

I'd wait until June and get the 6800k, it's the 5820k replacement.

How about Xeon E5-2683 V3 ?

I'm getting that one for $563.
