Friends high end build

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/GnhwMp

Thoughts on it? He wants to buy all of his parts tonight. He told me that he is going to be playing games, music and video editing. Personally I would of went with a 980ti (or 2) But its not me who is buying all of the parts

I'd buy a single 4 x 8 Ram kit instead of two 2 x 8 Ram kits to make sure they will (should) work.
Sometimes buying separate kits can lead to incompatibility issues.
I'd also buy a more powerful single card, like you suggested.

@GeorgeKellow Looks good, 980TIs are much more expensive, but if he has more money, they would be a good investment. But 390s are fine.

its fine if he buy 2x dual channel kit, since this board only runs in dual channel, not quad

Spoiler

1) 32gb ram is too much bruh... just get 16gb first and upgrade later if you really need more

2) and maybe faster ram, 2133mhz is the bare minimum, make sure your motherboard supports higher frequency though

3) dont CF 2x mid range card, might as well get a single 980ti, dual gpu brings more trouble than single gpu, not recommended unless 2x of the strongest gpu

4) that psu wattage isnt necessary, 850W is plenty for both cards, for single 980ti, 650W

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Why isn't he going X99?

And it would be better to just buy a single Fury(non X) over dual 390s given how close new GPUs are coming out.

while a 980ti would be faster while OC'd should he ever go for an adaptive sync display you have to pay extra for the G-sync tax, and when DX12 is in more games even the non X Fury will be faster than the 980ti.

also like 200 pounds less, though this is missing the 240mm rad.

Also why that case? there are going to be better options for the money, even something like a Define R5/S. I'd go with a HAF XB myself though...
