I know that it's not supposed to be done, but my laptop has a BGA CPU (meaning it can't be removed from the motherboard), it's a dual core i3 at 2.1ghz so yeah, as you probably guessed, I wanna change it. Is it possible?

are you very very good at soldering

I'm fairly decent

Good luck.

Removing an i3 and putting an i5 on a BGA chip needs microscopic precision. If you don't solder just a tiny pin correctly, it's pretty much done at that point.

You would have to be able to solder SUPER SUPER SUPER well and then hope that your laptop would accept the CPU you put in.

What CPU are you switching? What new CPU are you going to replace with?

Have you made sure they are the same socket with the same TDP?

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Possible  =  yes(ish). Using so much expensive equipment you would be much cheaper actually buying a full new laptop

Probability of it working when you are done = approaching zero
