BTW you were right, it is ShadowPlay causing this on a specific DP of the GPU.

download gpu-z, it should show you the bios version (i think)

disable desktop shadowplay

i just remembered about shadowplay because i had to turn on desktop capture just because it wont turn on automatically in games lol

and its causing my gpu to run at 1k-ish core clock full time

Hey guys,

earlier that day I started this thread here:

I installed the latest nvidia driver, which solved the issue that the gpu is running at 1177MHz at idle instead of the 135MHz which it is supposed to and what it did the last couple of months since I built the PC back in May 2015 (rig is in my sig).

Well it solved it sort of as you can guess: it solved it for exactly 5 hours. After watching a few videos on youtube via edge and then shutting it down for the last 4 hours, starting it again few minutes back and controlling whether it is now solved, the problem is back. I'm running on Win 10 64bit, latest updates, nVidia driver 364.72. Does anybody now how to fix this? I don't like to run it at this speed all the time if there's no use for if you understand.

Thanks in advance again!

If you have a 120+Hz monitor you are bound to have this issue. It's a driver issue that has been around for several months

Driver 364.72 has a bad reputation.

You might want to go back 1 version (364.51) and check if that helps.

I'm using a standard 60Hz Panel via displayport (Dell P2314H)

Hmmm. Odd. Does the higher idle clockspeed affect anything? If it's just that I'd say it's nothing to worry about - you will simply have increased power draw at idle

idle temps are 5-10°C higher... so a thing I really don't like to have.

Just tried it with a vga cable I had laying around... and now it automatically downclocks.

It's fine - due my 2 screens my card idles at 42*C since clocks are maxed when you have more than 1 screen - it won't affect anything.

lol it really doesnt matter unless it affects your performance

if you're really concerned about power draw, dont leave your computer turned on and unattended :P

(just remembered something)

is your shadowplay turned on? `-`

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Make sure in afterburner settings Force Constant Voltage is NOT checked:

And in the nvidia control panel, this (sorry for french...make sure it's not set to ''max performance'':

@i_build_nanosuits: Yes both were exact like you said, no forced voltage nor max performance.

@Moonzy: ShadowPlay is turned on, I try this if the error occurs again. I tried another DP and now it seems to work.

Thank you all for your quick help!

BTW: how do I see which GIGABYTE Bios I have? http://www.gigabyte.de/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5209#bios there are various Fxx Versions, but I didn't find a way to see which one I have.
