Dual boot ubuntu and windows

I'm trying to dual boot ubuntu and windows, i have ubuntu installed and my hd has one big partition with 947 gb a swap one with 15gb and another one with 516 for some reason and the guide says i need to allocate space, i tried using gparted and no ''create new'' option showed up, i know i'm doing the hard way ubuntu to windows.

Any helpful guides are most appreciated

i looked hours trying to find something similar to my case but nothing really worked :/

Perhaps back up and unallocate it with minitools partition wizard before doing it the hard way

Mind giving us a link to this guide?

Also if the HDD is the drive currently holding Windows it won't let you, since it is in use.

And you can't create a new partition since you filled everything up, you first need to shrink it in order to make a new partition.

CPU: Intel i5-3470

GPU: MSI GTX 780

OS: GNU/Linux.

Use the Ubuntu installer to resize the partition, or just use gparted OS which can be downloaded here:

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

Keep in mind that Windows would replace your Linux bootloader, you need to reinstall GRUB (or whatever bootloader you're using) to be able to use your Linux again.
