extreme coaxial cable jitter and packet loss

noisebomb44

So after succesfully reviving my internet connection after it stopped working by resetting my modem and screwing in my coaxial cables harder i get a LOT of packet loss and jitter, these are my results after only a few ping requests to google

as you can see it jumps up to 1189 ms randomly which didnt happen before

I also recieved these results after a few minutes of running pingplotter towards various websites

Hop Sent Err PL% Min Max Avg  Host Name / [IP]
 1    25   0 0.0   0   1   0  [192.168.0.1]
 2    25   0 0.0   6  11   8  c213-200-142-141.bredband.comhem.se [213.200.142.141]
 3    25   0 0.0   7  57  11  [213.200.164.217]
 4    25   0 0.0   8  12   9  [213.200.163.237]
 5    25   0 0.0   7  12   9  as15169-te-tc1.sthix.net [192.121.80.47]
 6    25   0 0.0   7  50  13  [209.85.250.192]
 7    25   0 0.0   9  13  10  [209.85.253.151]
 8    25   0 0.0   8  16  10  www.google.com [216.58.201.164]ping.png

As you can see the packet loss is pretty high at 8% for google, and the jitter is pretty extreme at times, and sometimes even not responding at all

Does anyone know how to fix this, since fiddeling with the coaxial cable more doesnt seem to help that much

First you should check your wiring and if everything is fine on that end then contact your ISP and get them to run a line test to check their lines.

So i fiddled around a little with my cables and re-run the test, now i get much better results

BUT the problem is that my jitter has increased a ton since last, it has gone from 1 to 2.5, although the jitter graph is much better this time

Is this result normal, or should i call my ISP now that ive improved it this much?

Your jitter isn't too bad just make sure your ping stays in the low double digits, I would still call your ISP just to check everything.
