I have a 3930k with a h80i cooler

Right now with 1 tab of chrome open my temp is 68 degrees (C) average.. its fluctuating from 60 to 75 rapidly up/down/up/down mostly by increments of 1-3 but sometimes by big leaps of 5-10.

I have just applied new thermal paste and while that definitely helped it was not the problem.

I also recently moved so i thought maybe a screw got loose or something on the move so i double checked every screw to make sure its secure already.

one thing i noticed is one of the tubes for the h80i is hot while the other feels like its room temperature not sure if its normal or a problem...

any ideas? or anything i should check? thanks.

The tubes being different temps is normal. You have a radiator between them transferring heat to the air, so one tube is the "hot side" and the other is the "cool side". As for fluctuating temps, that could be a faulty sensor, especially if you just moved.

Are there fans on your H80i? If there's no air moving through the rad, that can cause some problems. Put your hand next to the exhaust on the rad. Is there airflow? If not, you may want to clean out your rad (that means the heat fins in between, not opening the rad) and the fan.

Is there anyway to test to find out of its just a faulty sensor?

It depends on the AIO. Some coolers, if they have a pressure leak (and those are super hard to find because they're super slow), will still work for years. Others will die within days.
