Build for Audio/video production.

lukmen

Hey guys,

So I'm planing on buying a new pc(for under 650eur). I've made a little build https://www.1a.lt/order/shopping_cart?content=HcjJDQAgDAOwlXqSBPbfC7U%2Fy0KK158b2DWI6N7JpGJQDdpCJQxOBgYf

Hope you'll be able to understand as this site is in Lithuanian.

So I'm gonna use the pc for video and audio production. Is there anything you would change or add? I really don't care about the storage as I will upgrade eventually :)

This is my first build so please help if you can.

Thanks :)

looks quite good so far. maybe the 380 is a little cheaper, the performance is basically the same but opencl should be a little faster than low end cuda.

also i would go for a cooler. even a cm hyper t4 will make a massive difference

Desktop Build Log http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486571-custom-wooden-case-with-lighting/#entry6529892

thinkpad l450, i5-5200u, 8gb ram, 1080p ips, 250gb samsung ssd, fingerprint reader, 72wh battery <3, mx master, motorola lapdock as secound screen

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.

Since you're going for audio production, silence may be a concern for the best quality product. May I suggest switching your case for a fractal define r5 (windowless) or a Bequiet! Silent base case. Also consider swapping your powersupply for one that offers a fan off mode.

You mentioned this is for video production as well, perhaps you should use a Xeon e3 1271(I think thats the model, I don't look at xeons very often) which offers similar performance to an i7 but at the cost of an i5.

Are you doing any gaming?

Also do you already have studio monitor headphones and a USB DAC/AMP?

Your budget is rather small for a production focused PC

Also what software are you using? an FX 8 core ties with an i5 in premier due to the i5 having some optimized instruction sets, but otherwise it would be pretty solid for video rendering anyways.

If you aren't doing any gaming probably go for a workstation GPU like the Fire pro W4100 at 180ish Euros, they normally come with mini display port to DVI/hdmi adapters, but you might want to double check that if you go for the workstation card

Otherwise go for a 380, openCL should generally be more widely supported unless you really need CUDA

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
