So when I'm playing Unturned or Orcs must die Unchained, the fps would suddenly drop from 100+ down to 2 and stays there until I either restart my game or change the core clock +/-1Mhz (or more, as long as I do something about the core clock. it goes straight back up to original FPS)...I can play CS:GO, RS6, GTA 5, JC3 with absolutely no problems what so ever (well there is a slight problem with RS6 but it's not FPS related).

What I've done:

  • ran my CPU and GPU at stock settings, doesn't make a difference...
  • reinstalled my drivers, no difference
  • used my Server's PSU (Only to power the GPU as it's only a 450w PSU...), no difference

Any suggestions?? What I find weird is graphically un-intensive games have the FPS problem while games that require a lot more horses to  run is completely fine...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Check your temps, usage, and other stats with MSI Afterburner (while in game). See which graphs get maxed out.

I would say the same thing, check your temps. How long ago did you apply thermal paste to your CPU?

Also is anything abnormally dirty? Are all your fans connected/spinning?

Think about the last time you tinkered in your PC, did you leave anything unplugged?

Check your temperatures and CPU/GPU/RAM usage during these games. MSI Afterburner is a good utility for this.

Underload: Furmark-72c, gta5/r6s/heavy games-60c, CS:GO-52c, unturned/OMD:Unchained-48c...so it's defniantly not temps (I OC my 290x with a h75 with afterburner so...you can expect me to check my temps with GPU-z for VRM temps)

Applied thermal paste 4 months ago, Vram usage doesn't go above 2GB (unless I'm playing GTA 5/R6S), RAM usage doesn't go above 9GB (I have 16GB of it :D), both my GPU and CPU is basically pinned at 100% when gaming...

Any other tips?

What % usage is your CPU and GPU at idle?

0-10% (don't expect me to pause my music...)
