true. Replace the CPU for a 4930K and we'll all be good!

You should be getting a better display. No point getting a good system and a terrible display.

Any preferred color theme?

Not really, just want to get a decent PC and enjoy it for a while, since I have to spend a lof ot money upgrading the current system I do have and it does not worth.. Also it will be a hard time to put PC in my luggage..

Wait for 9000 series and Black Edition board

Looks really nice and fast, couldn't imagine myself playing on this or doing anything else, heh. Well, almost all of the prices are in USD ($) hence they are from Amazon.com nor or from different websites for PC parts located in US. For UK, the price is in GBP and it is x2 the price in US.. That's how the prices are working for different areas.

Ehm.. Good evening folks. Nice to meet all of you people who have more experience and knowledge about the personal computers than me. So yeah.. right now I'm with I have to say not really decent but not the worst PC. 6GB of ram, 2x2.8 GHZ GPU and GeForce GTS 450 video card. I'm running sadly only few of the games I'm up to play. I've been working this summer season and made a few grand so I'm planning on spending them on new PC just because I'm moving to different country and yeah.. Leaving this one to "collect" dust while I'm joying on the new one. So yeah, could you help me a bit with listing the components. I really almost have no clue how I have to start with building PC but as far as I know it is really good time and also you are not paying that much, and not at last - adding whatever you want to, as long as it can fit. I'm all about to play the new games being released lately in 2013, Battlefield 4, Fifa 14 and maybe if it is released on PC, GTA V. Also I'm running really badly the Battlefield 3, if I join in any server with high amount of people, I'm suffering of lags, my game is "moving" on pictures.. Thanks in advance and sorry for any disturbance and being really newbie in those kind of stuff. Cheers!

You can probably get away with around 2,000.  Do you want to overclock at all?  You can buy a warranty from Intel for 25 bucks that they will give you a new one no questions asked if you somehow kill it.

My PC: CPU: I7-2600K CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Evo, Mother Board: MSI Z77 Mpower, Ram: 4x4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Corsair Vengeance (Black), Case: HAF 932, PSU: CM GX 650 (Upgrading to RM750 soon), SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 120GB SSD, HD:  750GB Seagate 7200 RPM, Optical: Samsung Blu-ray burner, GPU: MSI GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr (Upgrading to an HD R9-290X on launch)

None.

So, give me till tonight and ive got you a Pink one with yellow stripes and white stars on it!

On a more serious note, do you want to have a Window in the case? Have a look at where you will place your computer, if you put it on the ground, I always think it's a shame to have a window, because you can't really look into it anyway.

If you put it on your desk, then having a window is nice, then aswell it's 'for best looks' cool to match the color scheme abit. Depending on how much you actually care.

Ninja edit: Aswell what size off case do you prefer? There are alot off diffrent sizes, ofcourse the smaller you go, the less space you get for upgrading adding more stuff in it. Do you care?

@WoodenMarker mention'd you can and should get a better screen, your current screen might be good for you, but with the current games you want to have a monitor that will display the games alot better for you. Monitors aren't expensive anymore, so they will fit in your budget! Aswell would you like to have multiple monitors? I personally have 2, I game on 1 and put skype, music, facebook on my other screen so when I die or have some time that I dont have to look at my game, I can check those things! I find this aswell super awesome when I stream, then I stream on my main screen, while on my other I can put my chat so I can talk with my viewers with ease. But if you don't stream I still recommend to use 2 screens, it's sooo nice.

It's not a must! Just pretty handy.

And please for the love off god, don't spend to much money just because you have it, there are very expensive CPU's suggested for you allready, but if you will only play games, those things won't be used to their potential use. Those CPUs are made to do heavy video editing, rendering. While they will perform fine for when you game, you can get the same gaming performance for a much cheaper CPU.

Here is something you should read, this is a test off the current latest Intel 4th generation haswell chips for gaming. They compare the i5 4670K vs i7 4770K. They use the same setup aside from the CPU and CPU clock, they overclock them to see how much more frames they get in games. Heck in some games the i5 even out performs the i7. (but this could be the margin off error, I don't know how they benchmarked those games!)

Just for your information the prices off those 2 CPU's are:

- i5 4670K 174pound

- i7 4770K 231pound

Last question: When do you want to build this?

AMD is going to release a new series off their GPUs in 1 month. The 9000 series. There is no information off the specs and prices yet, only some leaked stuff, but nothing official from AMD. This will by default change the prices slightly for the current best AMD cards (they allready did drop alot, so I don't expect the to drop much more)

Depending on how well they perform compared to their competitor Nvidia latest 700 series cards, this could change the prices off those cards aswell.

Hope this helped abit, I will wait for your answers to be able to help you more!

Edit: aswell, I assume you have a headset or boxes allready for sound? Could you tell wich ones, we can have a look at it aswell! And how much do you care about sound? Motherboards have decent onboard sound nowadays fine for just an okay experience, but there are options out there to have much clearer, better sound quality!

Thank you a lot. Actually I just said how much I'm willing to pay for new PC, the parts in UK are not cheap as the US so I have to digg a bit in my pocket to build it up for once and use it for a while. I will be buying the parts at the early December. Using steelseries siberia v2 headset and I really have no problems with the colour, it could be pink, not a problem at all. About the two monitors, I know it's pretty handy but I have no idea how to connect them if I have only one slot at the back of my PC case, guess I have to buy one with two of those? And the PC would be located probably on the right of my leg so not really going to look into it.

The pink part was a joke! ;) But if you really want, let me see - Corsair 600T PINK (skip to the end to see how pink they made it for her)

Early december is a perfect time, then its about a month for the new 9000 series card to be released, so there is alot off information about them! For multiple monitors, almost all new video cards (GPU) are able to have 4 screens connected to them. 3 side by side and 1 on the top. With 2 it's pretty simple - You get cables with the monitors and you simply conect the cable's on that graphic card. If you get a build with multiple graphic cards, you just connect them the same as with 1.

Here is a picture to see the connections you have on a GTX 780:

AMD Cards have diffrent connetors, but aswell those can handle at least 4 screens.

GTX-780-GB-6.jpg

Most commonly used ones are the 2 white ones, it is an DVI-I and DVI-D Simply put the cable in those, then you have to setup the screens in windows. Wich isn't to complicated and you are good to go!

I'd like to throw in my .02.... Here is what I'd recommend based on everything you've stated so far.

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.4GHz 4-Core Processor
CPU Cooler:  Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard:  Asus Z87-DELUXE USB 3.0 Motherboard
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866Mhz CL9
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card:  Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Video Card:  Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Case:  Cooler Master HAF X
Power Supply:  Seasonic 850W M12II Bronze Series Modular Power Supply
Optical Drive:  Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer

For gaming purposes, The 4930X is unnecessary. You could probably get away with a 4670K if gaming is the only thing you would ever do on this computer but having the HT option is nice for editing video and the possible games that may be able to utilize it.

For 2 graphics cards, it will increase the performance by quite abit. About 50% increase compared to 1 card. For Nvidia you can only sli the same card. With AMD you can Crossfire 2 cards off diffrent types and still get a better performance out off it. (I have to look up the exact rules for this, but I know that an AMD 7950 and 7970 will work together and you will get a performance increase when you CF them. While an GTX780 and GTX770 won't work in SLI and thus wont give a performance increase)

Here is a short video off 2 Nvidia 770's in sli compared to the other cards (including a reference 770) so you can see that the frames he gets in most games and other benchmark tools is about a 50% increase. When you do SLI, the VRAM off those cards stays the same, you don't get 4GB when you use 2x 2GB 770's!

For his build (@BYOGamingPC) well as you allready said. You will be buying in early december, you should look for the parts at that time because maybe the 9000 series card will kick the 780 their ass. We have to wait for that. Aswell prices change very quickly in this market so.

No you don't NEED 2 cards, it will just increase the performance compared to having 1.

I don't think it's smart and needed to buy 2 graphic cards and put them in SLI or Crossfire. With a single 780/7990 you pretty much can max out all current games with a very nice fps. With your budget, I would buy 1 card - make it SLI/Crossfire ready, this means that you should buy a motherboard that supports this, aswell as a power supply that can deliver enough power to those cards. And then when you dislike your performance in a year or 2, you could simply trow in the same card (or with amd a better version:p) and then that will increase your gaming performance by a good amount. While not having to pay that much money anymore, the prices will drop. Altough for me personally, I did this, I went with 1 card and said, yes later I will just SLI my GTX570 when I want better frames, nope. I just want to buy an GTX770 or AMD 7970 now while selling the 570. So I could have gone with a less expensive and powerfull PSU and be fine with it.

For the CPU, well if you only game on the PC, the i7 is just waste off money. I would actually lean more towards the AMD cpu. If you are concerend about the actuall cores the CPU has. It's impossible to tell right now how many cores you need for games in 3 years. It could very well be 8 cores. And then having the i7 is a good thing, but it could aswell be that its just using 4 cores. And then the i5 would work just fine. Ofcourse to be more 'future-proof' the i7 is a good idea. Altough the AMD FX-8350 would in my eyes be something to look for more.

He picks out a 500GB SSD, wich I think is abit to much for the price. Aswell you can go with cheaper RAM / Mobo. Again, just because you have the money to spend on it, why would you spend it if it's not needed.

Another thing is something you have probably no idea about but i'll give you a simple video to explain it abit (by Linus) but there is an option for Raid 0 and 1. Those 2 are diffrent but come from the same principal, and you need a motherboard that supports Raid to be able to do it. What it does? It combines 2 hard drives (can be SSD aswell) and uses them together.

With Raid 0 being that files will be written to both drives, but the bits are seperately written to both drives. This will give you a performance boost.

With Raid 1 you write the same file to BOTH hard drives, meaning that if 1 off the harddrives dies, you still have all your files on the other hard drive. But this doesn't give you any boost.

Here is a video from Linus that explains it abit better then I can. He aswell explains how to setup, but you don't need that for now!

Only something to think about if you would like to do that.

Hopefully this answered your questions.

Edit: may I ask what you are studying? This is some information that could weager the disicion for some parts.

Much appreciated, first time hearing about those things, really got my attention and I want to read even more. Looks like it's really big science. About the stydying, heh, I'm not studying yet but I will be really soon and I have to choose from like a lot of categories.. Almost finished my 12th grade.

Allright, well I for example am studying Architecture. I use some programs that need abit off power, altho it would have ran oke on the i5. (i just wanted bragging rights, to be completely honest - and had the money, so I went, why not? (bad idea!)) This is just something minor tho, but for the long run could be something to look out for.

Indeed there is alot to read when it comes to building a computer. There is no 'perfect' PC. Parts and technology changes to fast and everybody has diffrent needs. Else it would've been alot easier haha.

Take your time to read trough everything abit, you have till about end off november to be 'up to date' so you can do the final decision, based on our suggestions and information you did read!

Building in December? Plan later. Parts and prices change frequently.

I just needed information about the "Building" and so. The market prices are dynamic as always. I will need assistance with the building ofcourse so I guess I have to pay to third person?

Just learn how to build it yourself. It's pretty much like legos. Picking the parts is the more difficult part. Putting it together it never harder than 'putting the thing in the thing'.

I was going to edit my post, but it got so damn long that I went with a new post instead.

This post will tell you why (in my opinion) and what to look for. Aswell, I just found out that those video's that Linus made are like perfect for this aswell. He has a channel called TechQuickie, he runs a show there called As fast as possible (it's aswell in this forum, to post things what you want to know/get explained) Those video's are all relatively short, about 3-5 mins on avarage. I linked a few off them allready in my post, but just check that channel when you have the time to read about everything you still have questions about, if the video did not give you the right answers, feel free to post here - or on the other parts on this forum, to get your answers. Or just look for other video's posted by either Linus or other people.

For GPUs (graphic cards): I suggest to look mostly at some benchmarks, most off the recent card tests show the latest games on highest settings. (be carefull to check out the settings off those tests; look for the screen they use, 1080p is far less demanding for the video card then a 1440p screen. Check wich was their test bench (they use the same platform and swap the video cards) Most test benches are pretty normal / abit high end stuff, with often to much RAM;p))

For CPUs, have a look at the intel i5 4670K and the i7 4770k and aswell the AMD FX-8350 and the FX-8320.

For RAM, there isn't to much fluff about it, if you really want some information about it, then ask and we can explain you how they work. But for just general use, any DDR3-1600 RAM with CL9 is going to be fine.

For HDD/SSD, there isn't to much to look for at the HDD part. But SSD are kinda interesting, have a look off reviews off the Samsung EVO and the Crucial M500 those 2 are both very new. Intel, A-Data and Plextor makes great SSD aswell. But I have not read to much off them yet. So can't judge to much on them, I only heard that they are good. (overall speaking "bad SSDs" dont really excist, it's just that some have some nice features/specs that other ones dont offer)

For PSU, (power supply) I always try to suggest either one off these brands: Seagate, Corsair or Be Quite! Perhaps silverstone, but overall I can often find a PSU for the person with those 3 brands. They all make very good quality power supplies. I only don't suggest them if it has to be a very budget build. Have a look at this, it will explain you the "80+ rating" that is on a PSU.

For Cases, well to be fair - it's all kinda personal taste here - some people like all kinda wissles and bells others prefer it to be very clean. If I can just tell a few brands you could have a look for then these are it:
Corsair (clean, quite, well build) NZXT (gamer style, well build), Fractal Design(clean, quite, well build), Lian Li(clean, extremely well build) and Bitfenix(a mix off both clean/gamer, well build). You have abit off everything here. I noticed I had to say well build with all those brands, but in general - all those brands make very well build cases, that you will be happy to work in/with.

For Monitors: just check out this video.

Hopefully this helps again abit, so you can look at those things.

what @WoodenMarker mention'd building a PC is like lego. (if you never played with lego, you aren't allowed to be building a PC - simple rule here) Check those video's and it's not difficult, the most challenging part off building an PC is useally the cable management and where to connect what. But even for that, there is help and tips/tricks to do there. If you have a laptop, you can aswell just put it on the table and look at any guide that is showing how to build a PC.
