What is in a current-gen GPU???

I am doing a school presentation over HBM and GDDR5 and for the life of me I can't find any picture of a current-gen GPU naked with all the components labeled.  

I also want this post to be here so that others for future reference can find it and learn what makes up a GPU. 

If anyone has or knows of a picture like I described can you link or post it down below plz.

Red = Memory chips, GDDR3 (this is an 8800 series card)

Green = The GPU. Technically the whole unit is called a graphics card, while the green chip is called the Graphics Proccesing Unit, as none of the other parts are actually proccesing graphics.

Orange = SLI connector slot

Purple = Image output

Yellow = PCI-E connector

Blue = power related components such as capacitors etc.

Light blue = 6/8 pin power connectors, from the PSU.

Well...AMD has some nice pictures -- close to what you want.

If you want the components labelled, you will probably have to do it manually.

Guess what is what.

The important difference between practically all GPUs the last 10 years, and the Fury series cards from AMD is the fact that the memory chips (the red on the image) is 1. stacked on top of each other and 2. put right next to the GPU (green)

On the subject of ''power related components''. Without getting very technical, here is the short rough story. Keep in mind i am not an electrician.

 

''Power phase''. Found on both graphics cards, and motherboards. The purpose of these is to supply the GPU, CPU, memory and other board functions with electricity. The more you have, the cleaner the power and the more stable the current. The 980Ti board above has 12+2. Meaning that 12 are assigned to the GPU itself, while the two remaining are assigned to the memory and other board functions. Note that on the asus 980Ti strix above, all of the 12 GPU power phases have their own capacitor.

 

The capacitors are used to control the flow of electricity and to block direct current. Ideally, a shock treatment will blow the capacitors leaving the more delicate components like memory and the GPU itself intact.
