[sleeping problem] KEEP HHD FROM STARTING UP

sjoerd108

Hello,

I recently made a whole new PC build and spend over 1100 euros on the parts. I did not buy any storage devices because I already had a 2TB drive and a 128 GB SSD so i could spend the money for better parts. I focused my build around
being silent. I want this PC to be running a server 24/7 in my room. So it is very silent (I cant hear it) EXEPT when the hard drive decides to randomly spin up when I did not do anything. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Like some program you can switch off an HDD you do not need?

Thx for reading excuse me for bad English

not possible, and silence ruins the fun of booting up your computer and listening it spinning up, i gave up with silence when i bought server equipment! its just not worth it, OC it until you have to shout to communicate! :D

I can't deny it it sounds great to hear that HDD spin up at cold boot but not when you try to sleep

thats most likely a background task accessing the drive every so often. any programs installed on there?

beyond that... let it spin constantly?

even if it spins it makes noise I can hear clearly. The only things on there are my documents and games.

I need to access it for big games. I use it too frequent for unplugging to be a good solution
