I can get the 970 a little cheaper, thats why I'm not going with a 390. Any suggestions for changes? I maybe want to upgrade later on (more RAM / SLI and so on)

would recomend u cut down on stuff like

  • a gold certified power supply
  • a 250 gb ssd (recomend 120gb ssds)
  • dat 450d which u dont need at all get a cheaper case
  • 2tb hdd(recomend 1 tb)
  • go for cheaper motherboard whvh will basically provide you with da same experienc e and performance

and from dat get a

  • gtx 980
  • better cpu cooler

I wanted to keep the 970 because I might upgrade to SLI in a year or two when I have more money and the 970 will be cheaper than a 980.

What cooler do you recommend for overclocking? Would like to get to 4.0-4.2

i never recommend sli unles you're craving for more performance even after you have the best card

just sell your card and get a higher performing one

Seem reasonable for me. I'd say get a 750W PSU instead if you plan for SLI later on, a little over head is good. Like SuperNOVA Nex 750W Bronze Certified Semi Modular.

Also are you sure you want to do this now? GTX 1070 and 1080 is rumored to be reveal next week on 5th April you know~

I heard there won't be a huge difference from the 900 generation but they will use less power.

Anyways, I'm not gonna buy everything tomorrow, I'm just already posting to get ideas for other parts too :P

Also, I want to get into overclocking, not sure if a Xeon is ideal for that. :)
