Haswell or Skylake?

peter3933

Hello,

I'm thinking of building a new PC based off an Intel Core i3, but I'm not sure whether I should spend a bit more and go for Skylake, or whether I should stick with Haswell.

I will be planning to use this PC for a very long time; does going with a newer generation processor benefit in the PC's lifespan?

All your replies would be appreciated! :)

Honestly there won't be much of a difference performance wise but I reckon you are best off going for a Skylake chip. Kabylake is soon to come out and Haswell will be yet another generation behind. You also get more upgradability and future compatability with ddr4 and m.2 support. If you can spend the extra few bucks for a i3 6100.

What budget, what country? What are you using your PC for?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
