hi,

I am hopefully going to be building a pc later this year and want it to have ddr4 memory however I only have a budget of £400 ($575 US). I am hoping to use it for gaming so it will need a decent gpu. I have configured a pc on pcpartspicker however I could use some advice on the parts before I buy them. Please tell me if you can see any places where I could either save money without losing performance or increase performance without paying much/any more.

Is it possible for you to save a little more? I would maybe look for some used parts, the jump between say £400 and £600 is quite a lot. Also try not to quote dollars, there's a lot of helpful people around here, but some will run pcpartpicker using USD which works out hell of a lot cheaper than us poor sods in the UK

Almost £100 over his budget. ^_^

To stay in his budget we have to cut a lot of corners, but overall I would say this build is fine:

But when it comes down to the wire he's better up saving another 100 pounds to get my build.

If he saves up another 4000 pounds he'll end up with a better system. And if he saves up another 300.000 pound he can buy a supercar.
We all know that, but that doesn't get us anywhere. ;)

But one can make 100 pounds in a week if they play their cards correctly.

That's true.
You know, it would've been a great advise, if you would've actually told him to save up some more money to get a much better system. But you didn't. :P

How much later? there's not going to be much point in planning out a PC build now as everything is going to change

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I don't have any 'save money' add ions to this build but there are some things I would try and add if you can.

  • try grab an extra 4gb of ram. 8gb should be a minimum.
  • Try grab a slightly larger hard drive. If you don't think that you will exceed 320gb then go for it. I think that 1tb or at least 500gb will be a better option

I would spend less on the case and a touch less in other place. But I would get a 1TB hdd and 8GB of memory.

would it be better to save about £20 and get a new r9 260x because the 270x in my build is used.
