This is discouraged on the forum. BTW nvidia quadros or AMD fire pros would be more suited for 3D rendering.

i like trains 🙂

Yes you can, and if you have the cash why wouldn't you? There is nothing wrong with building a beast of a unit. And really that computer will last you 10+ years easy. My only question would be "why water cooled?"  IMO with that much money sunk into a rig, and given that water will void your warranty why risk it? I would personally go with fans.

Or just buy the EVGA hybrid titans, they already have an AIO loop.

First off, the rules of the New Builds and Planning section of the forum specifically states that 'dream builds' or 'just for fun builds' are not appriciated. This kinda seems like that. Regardless, this is what I'd reccomend:

  • 5960x is good for development and stuff but cutting costs with a 5820k or a 5930k. Also look at Xeons with a larger core count.
  • ditch the dominator platinum and go for a. More reasnoble option like 64gb of Corsair Vengence LPX.
  • I have had very bad experiances with closed loop AIOs and therefore reccomend open loops and air coolers over them. I reccomend either the EKWB Predator 360 or the Noctua NHD15.
  • For development purposes I would get two 850 pro120gb SSDs in raid zero, a single 1tb 850 evo and two sets of two 3tb WD blacks in raid 1.
  • define r5 is good. Grab some Nocta NFF12 industrial PC fans for cooling.
  • Go with two 980ti cards in raid zero. The Titan x is terrible value compared to the 980ti and three way sli is kinda stupid unless you are going to the extreme with displays. Get a quadro or a FirePro if rendering and development is the main use case.
  • Get a 1200w PSU

I'm here to help people and have fun. Feel free to chat!

it looks like you just discovered the "sort by price; High to low" option. The best way (IMO) is to build a server for all the rendering, maybe even go for two 26xx Xeons in there, and then have less powerfull workstations for every programmer/designer.
