Yep, it's an SSDNow V300.

Thought so. Those have been known to have some uh, 'cheaper' components inside, not sure if Kingston cleared that up or not. But what it essentailly did was make the SSDs almost as slow as an HDD. I doubt that's the problem though.

The only thing is that I completely re-installed it, went into settings and factory reset the OS.

You should get the install tool from Microsoft's website and make a USB installer.

Okay, so I am having a huge problem with Windows 10 right now. Actually a few. I need answers ASAP.

Problem # 1.) When I boot into Windows and enter my password, it takes over a minute to load my desktop (Yes, I have an SSD)

Problem # 2.) When I finally get to my desktop, I can't open my start menu. If I click it, my entire task bar freezes and I can't click anything, even the icons on the right.

Problem # 3.) After the task bar freezes, some icons on my desktop disappear. Seems that it's only the shortcuts that disappear.

This is creating a HUGE problem for me since I do photography, and I DO NOT need to have missing icons and non-responsive task bars.

Also, once the task bar freezes, I can't even open PC settings, access CMD, or Task Manager. Absolutely nothing. I just tried fully resetting it, still didn't do anything. But, if I have an application already open, it works fine. (No problems at all with Windows 7, though)

Here are the specs for my machine:

MSI Z8-G41 PC MATE

Core i7 4790K

32GB Crucial DDR3

Kingston 240GB SSD (almost brand new)

2x2TB WD Red (Raid 1)

Geforce GTX 750Ti FTW

Sentey 850W 80+ PSU

Please help. I need some answers ASAP.

Thanks,

Cameron Lasley

Those are some serious issues, I'd recommend pulling anything important off of the drive and reinstalling Windows. It'll be much easier to do that instead of finding the exact causation and then trying to fix it.

And what Kingston drive is it exactly? I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's a SSDNow V300?

I'd recommend reinstalling for problems that serious.

Oh, and that could also very much be the problem

Could you do a speed test with CrystalDiskMark or something similar?

Encountered the exact same issue when I upgraded my machine when Windows 10 first came out. I wiped the drive and did a clean install and everything checked out. I did some snooping and found out that sometimes when users upgraded (as opposed to doing a fresh install) Windows 10 gets a little freaky and locks up randomly. Don't know of a specific fix but a clean install did do the trick, albeit a longer one that I had wanted. Hope that's useful.

Yeah but do realize that this is the SSD I'm currently booted into windows with so it varies.

having Windows on it has nothing to do with those variations - the software (HD Tune) does a "surface" read and not a file system read
