As soon as this comes out I am gonna upgrade everything. I don't even care if it costs an arm and a leg, this stuff will last for 20 years plus.

Ramdisks anyone?

You could allocate 184GB to a RAMDisk and 8gbs would be enough if you are gaming and you wouldn't need an SSD. :)

I don't want to rain on your parade, and if you are excited then that's just awesome. BUT, just take this into consideration please:

1) They say that they use up less power. Is RAM power consumption really that big of a deal? The article uses the term "significant" when talking about the decrease in voltages from 1.5 to 1.2. I won't say anything about that other than if you find that significant then I think that's a personal opinion.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lovo-ddr3-power,2650-9.html

2) Some of this new RAM is 288 pin. I don't personally think it would be wise for me, myself, my own personal self, to invest in a new motherboard and possibly a new processor just to get DDR4 RAM. However if the trend of motherboards is to have these 288 pin slots as the default in the near future then when you build your next PC it might be cool to get the new RAM.

3) This is all just development talk and this is a chance for them to show off their new stuff. None of this is going to be an affordable option for budget minded PC enthusiasts for at least 1 year from now.

4) There is no way unless you want to spend a month's paycheck that you will be able to get 192 GB of RAM. Some of these answers made it seem like 192 GB of RAM is going to be the new standard. If you were to take the majority of home users' builds, RAM doesn't go from 16 GB to 192 GB as the standard over the course of 1 generation.

I'm just saying that I don't want you guys thinking that this time next year you are going to have 192 GB of RAM in your system for $50. You might be disappointed.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.
