New Gaming PC - Thoughts?

Debating if I pull the trigger b4 pascal but if I do I was looking at the below build, I would love everyone's opinion. I would like to go for a white theme (but not compulsory), maybe add some custom white cables for GPU.

1. Budget & Location - $3000 to $4000 Australian
2. Aim  - To build a good gaming get PC (mainly blizzard games now) to run on max settings while future proofing for 4-5 years
3. Monitors - I own 2x 27inch Samsung monitors, possible upgrade monitors to 4K in 1-2 years
4. Peripherals - I don't require peripherals apart from a new Windows licence
5. Why are you upgrading? - To get a better unit to allow my games to run on ultra, and future proof, currently running on 4yr old rig and gtx 760

My thoughts are that if you're dropping $4000 AUD on a build like that, I'd aim for two GTX 980Tis instead of spending it on one of the more expensive GTX 980Tis and motherboard. I'd also cut down on the storage.

So you recon it is better to get a SLI build but with cheaper components? Than running a high end build with only 1 980ti?

would it make a difference if I decided to upgrade to pascal or a different gpu down the track?

Either build is pretty decent. I would be tempted to wait for Pascal. But typically models with after market coolers, especially ones with a black & white color scheme tend to lag the initial introduction by some months.

But I think this one does better with the color scheme. Included are a set of custom black & white psu cables. PCCaseGear does list an all white part, but it is out of stock.

The larger psu allows for the addition of a second gpu should that ever be desired.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Well, the build I've proposed is still high end. The motherboard and card you've picked is more enthusiast - it's unnecessary when you can get SLI for that same amount of money and get much more performance out of it.

But, truthfully, it might be worth it to wait for Pascal/Polaris and splurge all your money then. If you've got a bit of patience, I'm sure it'll be well worth it. The GTX 980Ti is going to depreciate fast.

You do make valid points,

the pascal announcements is only 2 weeks away or something isn't it?

Rumoured to be. Still, it'd be a good idea to wait for the time being.
