Hey folks.

 

Quick question. Would there be any issues with painting my gpu backplate with plastidip?

I have two EVGA 980 Ti's.

CPU - i7 8700K / Motherboard - ROG Strix Z370 E/ RAM - 32GB Cosair Vengeance DDR / GPU  - GTX 1080ti - EVGA FTW3 / PSU - Seasonic Snow Silent 750W / Cooling - Cryorig H7 Monitor - Acer X34 Predator / Sound - Corsair Void - Case - Meshify C

probably not, make sure the paint isnt conductive is all you have to do

 

the vram that relies on the backplate to cool might rise slightly in temperature, but should be fine tbh

 

but if you're gonna RMA the card, make sure you can remove the paint

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

That's not a problem I would take it off the card to spray however as it would make thing much easier. Just start off trying to coat the edges or hard to reach surfaces first before the large flat portions.

Hey, thanks for the advise. I have coated GPU's with plastidip before but only the plastic bits. My main concern is regarding thermals. I read somewhere that plastidip is resistant up to 100c so that would be ok.

Yeah that would be correct, while it may get a little soft at that temperature the GPU shouldn't get that hot in normal operation.
