GlassWire and Packet Sniffer

Just wondering what would be the best packet sniffer to use. And also, thoughts on GlassWire, I've been using it for a while but I have a few questions with it in Skype. I usually see about 70+ hosts during startup and I'm just wondering if that's normal. Understanding that when when I use Skype, it usually just sits there. So I'm not really sure why it's pulling in so many.

WireShark, using it can be illegal, check your local law.

If you are only capturing traffic on your private network, I'm not aware of any place where this is illegal (THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE). If you are capturing data while connected to any public network, you are probably violating the terms of that network that you agree to by connecting to it, and there are probably also laws protecting the privacy of the other users on that network (these laws probably have provisions for the operator of the network capturing data as needed for maintaining and troubleshooting the network or cooperating with law enforcement).
