Starbound Server? I can't get it working

Hi.

A while back one of my friends and I had tried to get a local Starbound server working.

Of course, it didn't work. I could join to it (I hosted and played it on my PC) but my friend (using a MacBook Air) couldn't connect.

I know that on most guides it's telling you to port-forward but I can't (my router's a Sagemcom Optus-provided ISP router and I can't work out how to port-forward on it).

Any help's appreciated, I'd love to play this game with my friend.

PS: We only play LAN so the server doesn't have to be public.
