i heard its DDR3L only??

Depends on your motherboard. Does it support DDR3/L? Look it up on the manual or website specs page.

A lot of boards can run regular DDR3 even if they say they don't but it may damage the voltage regulator and other things with time. I'd just bite the bullet and go with DDR4, I don't consider it mainstream yet but it will be soon. DDR3 has been around since 2008ish it's getting very old

CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 3960X | Motherboard: Intel DX79SR "Stormville" | RAM: 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series DDR3 PC3-12800 (4x 8GB) Quad-Channel | GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970 FTW 4GB in SLI (I have Many other builds plus 100+ Macs (don't judge me)... Many specs are listed on my profile)

Get DDR3L that seems to be the only compatible option for both parts.

Yep, either way you need to buy new ram...might as well get the DDR4. Prices really aren't that bad for DDR4 now. But I also remember when buying a single Megabyte of ram would cost you $100.00 USD.

No, I wrote and I meant Megabyte....RAM prices way back in the day (like 1993/4) a single MB of ram was running at least $100.00 usd. A good system had 4 megs of ram. A high end system might have 8 MB of ram. Most systems came with 2 standard. Of course modems on the fast side were only 14.4 Kbps as well....those were the days...

Now all you young kids get off my lawn *Shakes his old man cane and goes back to being grumpy* :)

Good luck with your DDR4 purchase!

in 2014 1GB means 100.000 rupiahs (in indonesian)

AAh, the joys of buying parts and not living in America where all of the specials and rebates and product selection is!

Unless you are doing heavy video editing, 3D modeling, or other tasks like that then you really don't need that much memory. For a gaming system 8GB should be fine as many people won't even use that much even with really resource heavy titles.

Buy the cheapest DDR4 memory you can afford from a reliable vendor (Corsair, G.Skill, HyperX, Kensington, etc.). Paying for high Mhz won't have a huge difference for you.

DDR3 will not damage a  "voltage regulator". DDR3 won't even damage the CPU IMC, which is what you meant to say. VDIMM does not damage IMC's. VCCIO (the electrical path into and out of the IMC) and VCCSA (IMC and PCIE subdomain voltage) can. Using normal DDR3 XMP profiles tend to increase these two voltages too high, which is why Intel warned against using them. If you manually dial in your VCCIO/SA voltages, to something under 1.25v each, you will be perfectly safe.

People run 1.65v 24/7 on Skylake all the time. I see people on hwbot pushing 2v+ (mind you, not 24/7) and doing heavy stress tests with these settings, and have not seen an IMC die as a result of VDIMM. You know why? Because VDIMM is supplied from the board, to the ram. It does not come into contact with the CPU at all.

Your kit will work just fine. However, DDR4 is cheap now. You can get 16GB for $55 (in the US at least) so it's pointless to stick with DDR3 if you can afford the jump to DDR4. Not only that, but DDR4 is easy to overclock, and once overclocked, its faster than DDR3 in absolutely every regard. If you cannot afford DDR4, then let me know. I can walk you through adjusting your voltages and making your DDR3 kits stable.

It's a pretty fast kit. What motherboard do you plan on using? Also, which country are you located in, so that I can compare prices with other kits?

In that case you should shoot for 16GB if you can make it happen. That might be tough but would be very helpful for your films and editing. And yes, that corsair kit is pretty nice.

This motherboard will not support that memory speed. It would be a waste of money to invest in such a fast kit, and not be able to use its full potential. That Z97 board will not support a 6600k, so unless you plan on changing to a Haswell CPU, it is not an option to use.

That depends. Can you give me a link to the store you are purchasing parts from? I can check myself and find the best combo for you. If you could give me a price range, that would also be helpful.

The cheapest Z170 board on that website would be $147 ( Rp 1,935,000) , almost twice as much as that B150M board. It is the MSI Z170-A Gaming. If that is outside of your budget, go with the cheapest board you are willing to purchase, and pair it with a cheaper 2133mhz kit of memory. No use in paying extra for faster ram that will only end up being slow anyways.
