SP120s on the H100i, AF120 on the back exhaust. If you want to make a custom loop, skip the H100i and buy Hyper 212 EVO instead, also get the NZXT Switch 810. Make the loop when you have enough money. But the H100i will do the job allright, also you can get a case with top 360mm rad support (Switch 810) and get the Swifttech H320.

Yea but he's just playing games (value for money)

Boards might be old, but they will still get the job done for the next 2years

16gb ram, yea deffo , only gaming go for 8.

Cooler h80i

I agree, but the H80i is NOT a good value. It has a 120mm RAD and costs $80 while H100i has everything the same, but twice the radiator size and costs $100.

First of all hello from a fellow Brummie!

£1500 is plenty for just a plain gaming system my main question would be what resolution are you planning on playing at?

If just one monitor at 1080p then a 780 is probably a bit overboard

Case: Corsair 600t      CPU: 2500k @ 4.7Ghz     Cooler: Corsair h60      Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V PRO   Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengeance

GPU: Asus GTX560ti     PSU: Corsair HX750       SSD: 128GB Sandisk Extreme   HDD: 2 x 2TB WD Green in RAID 1

LED's: ICEMODZ LED Strips

Actually no. 3GB is fine these days for 1080p. Crysis 3 for example uses more than 2GB at that res. And the GPU itself performs like a next-gen GPU, if compared it to 770/680/7970.

You can go pretty balling on that budget.

For instance this dense little mATX build I just threw together http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1EMgj or even an mITX powerhouse like http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1EMBH. Just to give some alternatives.

@damiwahn never mentioned anything about vram. I'm pretty sure what he meant was that the 770/7970 already maxes out almost everything at 1080p and that the 780 would be overkill not to mention it's a bad value.

As for the OP, what peripherals do you have?

It is a good value since it hasn't got any concurrence, except $1000 Titan. And these talks about "maxing out" are totally off, since the card gets barely playable FPS in Crysis 3, the next year mainstream. This is not only about VRAM, this is also about raw core performance, which is the most crucial factor when it comes to overall GPU performance. Do you want to build a PC that "maxes out" everything today, but you have to upgrade the next year? Probably not. The 780 will last much longer than that. He might also consider the HD7990, but that can't be compared with the 780.

In that case, a 7970/770 should already max out most games. You need not spend all of your budget for a good gaming experience.

It's still not a good value. Compared to a 7970 CF that beats it in performance and the 9000 series coming out, the 780 is a bad value. It only looks good because of the Titan and that was Nvidia's marketing ploy from the start. These talks of 'maxing out' are not totally off. I never said maxing out ALL games but most. There are games that even the Titan can't max out well.

There's nothing short of a Nvidia GRID that could possibly max out everything today.

Why can't the 7990 be compared to a 780? What makes the 780 so special that makes it so you can only compare it to the Titan?

I can't compare it to the 7990 because it is a dual-GPU card, so things change all the time as new drivers come out and so on. I also can't compare it to a degree lower GPU like the 7970. Of course 2 of those would be more powerful, but as a Linus fan I can't really recommend going with 2 weaker cards instead of one stronger. Only if you could find a super cheap 7990 what happens a lot of times. Also the thing I want to point out is, that there is no thing as "overkilll" in GPUs. The better you get the longer it will last.

It's currently overkill for 1080p. I'm not talking about later in the future otherwise I would have said so.

Single gpu or not, regardless of the properties, you can always compare different parts. This is not like when you only compare one of the spec like the frequency of one part to another. As wholes, you can always compare different components.

Obviously, the better you get, the longer you will last but if you get something that already does everything you need for less, you can used the saved money for an upgrade later on. which is a much better value.

Getting the highest end solution is generally a bad value and you get more for your money by buying mid to high range cards as new cards come out.

Yes that's what I meant by its overkill not just how much VRAM the cards have . In the UK you can get a 7970 3GB for around 65% of the price of a GTX780. Its all about diminishing returns and what your really doing with the system and what games you are playing. Not everyone plays Crysis 3 all day. Also it was only a question asking what res he was playing at and  how many monitors and I was just suggesting depending on his answer it may be overkill.

Case: Corsair 600t      CPU: 2500k @ 4.7Ghz     Cooler: Corsair h60      Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V PRO   Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
