Web development is really crowded in terms employment since even high school students can create a site. I suggest doing websites for various businesses in your local area to avoid competition. See a small diner or restaurant? Offer to create them a simple website that showcases their dishes.

Developing the site is one thing but an even bigger obstacle is to get the job in the first place and that's a very big responsibility since less tech savvy people are more likely to refuse it. You have to know how to persuade potential clients.

yes i see your point. the other day i was on a trial for an hourly job doing web design for a really nice man. The problem was he didnt really know what he wanted, so i only did what he said, he then asked me if i could do adwords i said not really so he then gets me to do adwords and fires me when i cant do it hahaha, What annoyed me he hired me to look after the wordpress side of things, and he hired someone else to do adwords. But what caused the problems was he set it up himself, and did an alright job. But in my opinion i had no input so he may aswell done it himself, as everything i said to do he wouldn't let me. So ive got a few projects and hopefully i can find a buyer.
