Xbone or Ps4

Ignore the title.

Since i got my Computer, my brother's been begging me to put some kind of console on the tv and since i've never hold a controller or console in my life, except PS1 and PS2.

I've had very hard time choosing to get Xbone or PS4 or even Wii U.

Before you say "Just buy a new computer for your brother" i'm broke AF. i bought my pc and redecorate my room which cost me around 7000$.

Also quick question PS Vita or 3ds XL?

Just build a PC for the price of a current gen console. It'll perform the same or better.

Not true. The deals going on current gen consoles are insane nowadays.

I would  say Wii U > Xbox One > PS4 because of the games I would play and the fact that none of these games are online games I want to play with friends.

And (New) 3DS > PS Vita. Unlike with these consoles, I actually have one of them (the 3DS) and love mine. Very good games (like Pokémon or Zelda) + you can play DS games

its kinda  messed up mentioning  building a pc in a console gaming section,, but even worse that theres a Console gaming section in the forum   with  the majority of its base being the PC master race (which in my opinion has earned its title ,, ehem) since I am not like microsofts tactics these days (worse than before ) I say spite em and get a PS4 LOL

I agree with a nVidia shield in that matter. I´ve got one here myself and it´s a cool gadet... requires a nVidia GPU to make gamestream work though.

But it´s awesome laying in bed having one of my machines running in my man cave in the basement and streaming 1080p 60FPS. And the shield is as stand alone also pretty good. Fast browser, acceptable assortment of games available and netflix and YT or Twitch. What more can you ask for. Besides the shield is 200USD, so it´s also pretty affordable.

Unless you can find a console for less than $350, my statement can still stand. At least for the most part. If OP's bro really wants a console, I'd suggest the Wii U. It has good first party games and free online.

Here in the Netherlands you can get a PS4 with triple-A titles like The Division for 350€. For that money you can barely build a pc that can compete with the consoles' horse power. Let alone that you cannot even fit a official windows license in that budget, nor do you get any triple-A games with it.

I use a mouse keyboard for first person games, top down games, RPGs/RTS games

controller for third person games, some more casual FPS (if I sit on the sofa or feel lazy) driving games etc

yeah PS4 is only £249 here, - a GTX 960 is £180... just for perspective

Well there are more (and arguably) better exclusives on the PS4

While I am pretty anti console, I do plan on getting  a PS4 as some of the exclusives are 100% worth playing!!!! and there are a lot to come out

also I love my vita and 3ds - great great handhelds, I prefer the Vita though its future looks bleak

As an Xbox fan not fanboy, I have to recommend Xbox, I do have a PS3 and plan to get a PS4

My main reason is for everything it does beyond gaming.

I like to control my TV via voice command, One guide is my only guide now, I stream games to my PC all the time, (I think PS4 can do that)

Xbox has far more apps, with the ability to add any UWP app coming this summer (they haven't said if it's all apps). I also prefer the user interface.

I love EA access. The vault is getting bigger and I'm thinking we are going to see a lot more 360 titles soon. You get a lot of games for little investment.

I think the most important reason to buy a console is what do your friends have, my buddies have xbox 5:1 over PS4,

makes more sense for me to by an xbox, if all my friends had PS4, I'd have PS4 already, Console gaming to me is about being social.

I got XBONE for me and the kids in addition to my PC , that's completely fine to have a console along with the PC.

I would choose the PS4 over the XBONE if it was for me only.

But I'm finding the XBONE more suitable for a family use rather than the PS4 which is more of an adults console.

*That's my opinion based on my research only.
