How is this a test of how far hardware has evolved when you primary condition is SOFTWARE?  A real test of how well hardware has evolved or more importantly, how well older hardware has lasted, would be to get MODERN software running on OLDER hardware and showing that with some love and a spit shine, it can still have purpose and use.

I tried to use xp as a way to limit the ages of computers becuse I don't want to say use your old Pentium pc I want more people to have an option to try and I specified that it should be a computer from 2002 or later but if you don't have a PC that old then you can still participate but you won't see as many limitations as someone who uses a super old PC.

All In all I want more people to be Able to participate and it is up to you what you how you want to do this challenge.

I have an Anet A8 as my project printer and a i3 MK3 for when I want things to work.

I totally ran Windows XP on my Pentium III machine back in the day. :)  Your very idea of 'limiting to XP will prevent computers older than 2002 being involved' is just silly.  When Windows XP came out in 2001 (Yeah, it didn't come out in 2002), do you think that NO ONE installed it on computers older than 2001 as a software upgrade?  There were plenty of pre-2001 PCs running Windows XP, including 'your old Pentium PC' as you said. :)

Did that...  Sort of...

I have a pentium m laptop at 1.6ghz,  1gb ddr2,  ati mobility radeon x300, 768p screen.  ( essentially a pentium 3)  and it ryns windows xp.  Had to use that as a daily driver for some time a few months ago...

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

While I do not recommend participating for other reasons, your "ISP" doesn't know, or care, what OS you use. Why would they? How would they even tell?

I should rephrase: The modem that my ISP gave me doesn't work with Windows XP. My previous one did, however.

I don't think the CAD suddenly gained more value than the USD, so that's the other way around. ;)

The oldest computer I had dated from 2004 (Athlon XP 2800+), I recently(last week) sold it for $20 CAD (not for the hardware, but for the time I had to take to reinstall Windows XP and do all the updates... ain't doing this sh*t for free and it wasn't worth it for $20), so... I cannot participate in this.

Ah, my bad. I will edit my comment.

I've got numerous PCs lying around that fit your criteria. I've got a number of PCs that are from 2002 or earlier and run Windows XP or older. I'd just have to leave behind my games and maybe YouTube. But if I'm taking on this challenge I'm upgrading my computer as much as I can. Let's see...I've got a Dell Optiplex from 2001. It's got a 1.7GHz Pentium 4, either 512MB of RAM or 1GB, a PCI graphics card and a 250GB hard drive. I'm going to move my documents over to Google Drive and then I'm going to try and pull off this challenge.

I have no signature. There is nothing to see here. Move along.
