Multi Channel SMB 3.0

devsinghania

So I was watching LTT videos and came across this one:

And it got me wondering, if I have fast enough drives and CPU in my system (and enough RAM); and if I use two of these 4 channel ethernet cards (i.e. 2 x 4 = 8 gigabit ethernet connections), will it scale up to 8 times of the normal gigabit ethernet speed (i.e. 100mb~ x 8 = 800mb~)?

Any ideas/thoughts?

Possibly, but it's a really bad idea. You will most likely end up with a lot of overhead, resource usage and cables all over the place. If you want that kind of bandwidth you are far better off just going 10GbE.

It will be a lot easier, faster and less hassle.
