slow internet

Go to solution Solved by SteepGnomeKing,

Don't use powerline? I don't get what's wrong with wireless. People seem to think we are still using 2002 technology. It's amazingly fast and doesn't cap out 99.99% of the peoples internet speed on this website.

That would be my recommendation, don't use powerline, try wireless.

Your Ethernet cable is messed up.

Your NIC is the problem.

Those would be my guess.

i have slow internet,

why do you post it here you ask?

because it's only on my pc, and i mean only on my pc.
my brother is youtubing happyily without issues, i can't even watch one video with at least 3 freeze ups.
and he's doing it wireless!!!!!!!
i'm using powerlines, i've tried resetting the powerline adaptars. didn't help much, i'm not achieving more the 700 kb/s downloadspeed, have trouble loading websites.

any ideas?

thnx in advance

Is your house of an older date? It might be that the electrical wires are of such a poor quality that they are unsuited for data use.

if you can connect you PC directly to a ethernet port or connect it wireless to see if it work like it should, that would help troubleshooting aswell

my appartment is 10y old, i'm an electrician, so i know that the wires couldn't be bad in that amount of time.

like i said, my wirelesss signal is bad in my room

Switch plugs for powerline, same issue

what plugs do you mean?

Network Interface controller

The thing you plug your Ethernet cable into on your computer, it controls how the packets are received and sent. It could be causing an issue. If you can plug your computer straight into the router/modem itself with the same cable and see if the speeds are good than the problem would be the power line adapter or the cables in your house.

it has worked perfectly, so it isn't the wires in my house, my router won't be the problem. since my brother can do online playstation gaming wireless whilest youtubing wireless.

i have plugged another powerline adapter and it made things better, but not the way it should. so it should be my cable, or my nic wich would mean according to what i understand, my motherboard has issues?

If your brother's computer is in the same house and running fine..

I would honestly take his computer and hook it up to your setup and see if there is any difference.

Then you would know for sure if it's the computer or something wrong with the setup.

I found out a long time ago that the only real way to troubleshoot computers reliably is through process of deduction... like Sherlock Holmes.

You simply turn off your computer and unplug it... move it aside... then plug his computer into all your stuff and turn it on.

Then he will be connected via the powerline and everything that you normally have set up, and you can see if he still runs flawlessly like you said.

If so, then it's a problem with your computer, if not, it's a problem with something in your setup (powerline, etc...)

There is practically 0 chance that doing this would have any detrimental affect whatsoever on his computer.

An alternative is to tell him to turn of his WIFI and plug him into Powerline if you think that's the problem.

What antivirus do you use? It it's bitdefender, I know the issue (unfortunately). Basically, it's an issue where it tries to scan your traffic, and ends up downloading everything you stop early, including YouTube videos etc. If not, powerline isn't the best standard in the world.

i use avast, didn't have issues with that program so far.

ended with resetting my router,  unplugging my powerline provider (the one who's in the router)

switching my cable from my powerline with my pc , (noticed that the cable had a few kinks in it, as an electricien i figured that could be messing up the thin wires in it.

things are smooth again, thnx for the input guys.

This thread has been dead for 3 months. Necro is against the CoC by the way. And PC optimisation is almost always pointless, especially disk defragmentation and registry optimisation. Your post actually resembles spam in many ways, or at least copy&paste, and doesn't really help the OP's problem.

Not to mention that there is already a post marked as the answer.
