since he doesn't have a DP on the monitor, HDMI will have to be it. Unless he gets a DP to HDMI cable

He meant it in the term of what's available on the monitor itself.

Nonetheless, HDMI is much more common than DisplayPort. And most of the consumers have no clue what the devil DisplayPort is.

The R9 390 doesn't even have a VGA out.

ESPECIALLY if you are doing video editing, only use HDMI or DisplayPort.

Yes. The newest HDMI can even do 3840x2160 at 60Hz

for feature proofing. if you ever want more than 60fps, use dp.

A nice bonus to HDMI is having the audio routed over the same cable - not possible with VGA. While the speakers (if any) built into computer monitors are a bit tinny, it's better than nothing!

As many have said before, VGA is dead - long live the HDMI king.

Wrong....VGA isn't dead. Most projector uses VGA. Servers still has a VGA available for DeBugging purposes. KVM switches are still most commonly found with VGA.

Something isn't dead until it is completely not in use anymore, but it is still being used everywhere. We as the community just generally don't recommend uses of VGA unless you absolutely have to.

True, it's not a black and white subject. It's one of those pieces of technology that really should be obsoleted by now however.

VGA for sure! VGA MASTER RACE!

i like how trippy you can get vga to be when theres enough interference :D analogue ftw

best colour accuracy because its analogue! best gaming experience because it cant even support 4k, so your video card can output tons of fps!

yea no, just use HDMI, less susceptible to random interference due to it being digital thus showing the best colour possible

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

VGA with an 90s tube monitor! Who cares for 720 quality or sounds anyways.

Yes, it actually does. The R9 390 does not have VGA support at all, meaning it only has DVI-D ports, which do not support VGA adapters.
